Supervision
Laurence Duffy
Supervision is a critical component of ongoing professional development and is instrumental in promoting effective practices and delivering high-quality care. Professional therapists, regardless of their career stage, stand to gain significantly from supervision, as it offers a valuable opportunity to evaluate their professional performance, including successes and areas for improvement. Regular supervision, for any practicing professional therapist, is an ethical responsibility and professional requirement .
What is supervision?
My Supervision Practice
With my many years of experience in the field of psychotherapy and counselling, I am also a trained and accredited supervisor. My supervision training and counselling/psychotherapy practice informs my approach to supervision. I abide by and adhere to the UKCP supervision statement.
During supervision I aim to:
Develop a supportive and collaborative working relationship with my supervisee practitioners
Facilitate a strengths-based approach to supervision in which the unique qualities, skills and gifts of each therapist is recognised and celebrated so that each therapist can grow and develop in their clinical practice
Create a reflective space to review, with my supervisees, their work with clients; to develop fresh ideas and insights; to help untangle difficulties and dilemmas and enable therapists to feel refreshed and re-energised in themselves and in their work
Provide a safe and confidential space to explore the therapist’s work with their clients
Explore the therapist/client relationship
Identify the strengths, gifts and skills in the therapist’s work
Address areas where therapist can further develop their professional skills and clinical practice
I work with individuals face-to-face and online via Zoom and Teams. I also work with groups, online via Zoom and Teams.
