About Us
Marie O’Reilly Duffy & Laurence Duffy
We, Marie and Laurence, are both UKCP registered psychotherapists.
For more than 20 years we have worked across NW London and the Southeast supporting individuals and families with diverse and wide-ranging issues.
We offer support with such difficulties as anxiety, stress, bereavement, loss, relationship issues, depression, crisis management and addictions. We recognise that many of these issues are a consequence of trauma in the early years of life, or because of experiences in the teenage and/or adult years.
Furthermore, we offer expert support for separated or divorced couples aiming to co-parent their children through their various stages of growth and development.
Our original psychological training was in psychosynthesis psychology, which emphasises the importance of inter-connection and relationship between mind, body, feelings, sexuality and spirituality. We further share a deep interest in understanding the complexities of human behaviour and are especially concerned with the challenges and experiences affecting people's daily lives and overall well-being. We are fascinated by neuroscience, particularly in understanding how the nervous system contributes to the therapeutic relationship.
Whilst our work is primarily informed by psychosynthesis, we also use various other modalities including CBT, mindfulness, Peter Levine’s somatic experiencing and Piero Ferrucci’s teachings.
We are both trained and accredited couples counsellors; and registered parenting programme’s trainers (Triple P Parenting Programmes; the Mellow parenting programmes and Strengthening Families, Protecting Children (SFSC) parenting programme).
We are both directors of DOR Therapy services Limited, our umbrella organisation which coordinates all of our therapeutic offerings.
Marie is also director of Potential Parenting Limited an organisation commissioned by local authorities to deliver parenting support to parents and families.
